I don’t think there are many people who truly enjoy cleaning. Some definitely do, but I’m not one of them. But the house must be cleaned! Something I *do* love is games.
So I found a group on Facebook that actually makes cleaning your house into a game. Not only that, but it makes it a fairly quick task!
How It Works:
There are a few different games, which happen at different times during the day.
There are two main ones in which I regularly participate:
1. 6 Ten Minute Tasks (1 Hour)
2. 9 Various Timed Tasks (1 1/2 Hours)
Numbers 1-3 are 5 minute tasks, numbers 4-6 are ten minute tasks, and numbers 7-9 are fifteen minute tasks.
Then, everyone who is participating in that game does Task #2 on their lists. You can comment in the thread which task you’re working on if you like.
You keep your phone near you and pay attention when each new number is called and immediately move to the next task. It’s fast-paced!
Today I played the 5-10-15 game at 9:30 am. Before the game was to start, I drew the “Bingo Card” on my Daily Page in my Bullet Journal.
5 Minute Tasks
1. Start Laundry
2. Clean Up Shoe Shelf
3. De-clutter Bedroom Surfaces
10 Minute Tasks
4. Clean Kitchen Counters
5. PUPA Living Room
(PUPA = Pick Up, Put Away)
6. Spruce Cupcakes’ Room
15 Minute Tasks
7. Do Dishes
8. Clean Bathroom
9. De-clutter End & Coffee Tables, Windex
So I worked for an hour and a half “playing” this “game” and I got all of these tasks done! Amazing, right?? I actually love it. I’ve been a member of the group for almost a year now and I’ll play one game every day that I’m home in the morning.
(My two favorite game times are 8am and 9:30am, but occasionally I’ll do a 3:30pm game if I’m desperate.) That’s awesome because it’s made cleaning more routine for me, and that is definitely a good thing for me.
Maybe it’ll help you and maybe it won’t, but I know it really helps me! This is a closed Facebook group, but you can search for it and an Admin will add you. It’s called 5, 10, 15 Clean!
