5 Fave Road Trip Necessities When You’re Traveling with Kids

Road Trip Necessities When You're Traveling with Kids I'm about to get in the car between two young kids and travel two states over 5 hours to reach our Michigan destination.  A momma has to be prepared.  Here are the biggies I'm going to need... 1. The Leap Pad This is such a great tool for my preschooler to use in the car!  If you're looking for games,  I once did a post called 5 Fave Leap Pad Learning Games.  I feel good about letting her play on the Leap Pad because it really is a great … [Read more...]

Saturday Laughs: Cupcakes “Read” Me Her Story

  "Its not very unreasonable." "Why?" "I don't know. It's not very unreasonable." "Just relax." "I'm not very missing my unicorn right now." "Cause when we line up its not very fun." "And then after you squeeze through, just really saueezin' cause when you do this it's not very unreasonable to want milk so don't worry." LOVE IT I'm not linking up with The Mommyhood Chronicles because she went to the New Kids on the Block concert.  But I will next week! … [Read more...]

Home Improvement: Encouraging Early Literacy

Cupcakes has been writing more and more and practicing her letter sounds; she's growing up so fast!  It's way past time for me to put labels everywhere.  I thought some of her toy bins were a great place to start.  In teacher school, I learned to put actual photographs right along with the words.   I am also working on starting to teach her the lowercase letters.  As a preschool teacher, I know we work to teach 3 year old kids all their capital letters, but when they turn 4, it's … [Read more...]

First #ZooDay of the Year! {Photo Dump}

Have I mentioned that I love going to the zoo?  It's true.  It's one of my favorite things: outside, awesome animals, kids LOVE it, and because my lovely mom gets me a membership for my birthday every year, it's pretty much free.  We *did* buy those ridiculously expensive souvenir cups for Hobbs and myself on our first visit, but that was only because we can bring them back every time in 2015 to get free refills all over the zoo.  Since we go so often, we'd be losing money NOT buying them.  I'm … [Read more...]

5 Fave Leap Pad Learning Games for my Preschooler #5Faves

Cupcakes loves the LeapPad2 Explorer that her Grandma got her last year.  iPads are too expensive for even Mommy or Daddy to have, but I really think this is better for her age.  She loves the games, and whether she knows it or not, they're helping her learn.  She doesn't get to play it often, but when she does, I am completely impressed with how well she does.  I especially like the Leap Pad for when we got on long car trips or we're traveling, or I just need a break.  These first four are her … [Read more...]

Love This Children’s Book App (a Giveaway!)

I don't know if you know this about me, but I love video games. And maps.  When I first opened this app, Farfaria, I was filled with wonder and joy as I hit EXPLORE and saw this:               Things I LOVE about this map: it's a bright and colorful MAP, it has a little lock ness monster with one eye, and an octopus coming out of the water (Cupcakes loves both of those things as well), it has a BEAUTIFUL rainbow over "Mt. Make … [Read more...]
