7QT: About Detroit from our Vacation

We Went on Vacation to my Dad's Hometown of Detroit, Home of my Favorite Sports Team So I did my nails all special.  :) - 1 - The 5 Hour Drive Wasn't So Bad The key is to be prepared.  I squished in the back between the carseats, my dad drove, and my husband sat up in the passenger seat.  It was tight, but I think my kids felt better having me right there, and there wasn't room for me anywhere else anyway.  I gave both of them a goodie bag with special surprises including books, … [Read more...]

7QT: Pajama Christmas Adventure!

- 1 - Happy Friday! Can you BELIEVE we're about to be entering into Christmas week?!  This is such an incredibly exciting time of year! - 2 - Dessert of the Week My sister got the family a French Silk pie from Baker's Square (as you know that's my favorite pie), but shockingly no one at my parents' house ate it.  (?!?!?!)  So my mom brought it over to my house.  We ate it after bedtime over the course of a few days and it was absolutely delicious.  PLUS it was Christmas decorated - red … [Read more...]

Happy Halloween from Cupcakes, Tootsie Roll & Their Parents

This is our first time carving pumpkins in our new home, and its Tootsie Roll's first time actually getting to see the pumpkin being carved.  He was there last year, but couldn't see through my abdomen. I am SO excited for Halloween! Poll: What is Your Favorite Thing about Halloween? [You could also answer this poll on my Facebook page] … [Read more...]

Sunday Treat (on a Saturday)

I had a wonderful night with my fam last night.  We looked at some old black and white photos of my dad when he was little and his parents.  We all wanted to go out to eat, but the restaurant we picked was jammed and had an hour wait!  So we packed up and went to a little burger joint in my dad's old neck-of-the-woods.  We hadn't been there in forever. I got a hamburger and a pizza puff.  My dad had to drive me to a nearby gas station because their bathrooms were out of order.  My brother put … [Read more...]

An Open Letter to Fisher-Price

When I was a kid, this is what Little People looked like.  They were so classic, simple, and easy to manipulate.  They were amazing and adorable.  They fit in my hands and they gave me the cutest smiles!  They brought me so much joy! Now I have a little girl.  She's two and she has a couple of sets of new Little People with the new buildings.  We've tried to get into them, but although they're bigger, they're not better.   In my opinion, the old ones from my childhood … [Read more...]

Vintage Little People

... were the best!  My mom got out a bunch of my old people and buildings, cleaned them off and set them out for Cupcakes when we went over there this past weekend.  She LOVED them, and as I played with her I knew why! She has some new Little People sets, but the buildings don't seem to be as intricate.  Of course, the actual people are more detailed, but I don't like that.  I love the simplicity of the actual Little People they had in my day.  They were smaller so I guess the risk of choking … [Read more...]

Making Nanas – a Saturday Laugh

Remember last week when I posted this picture? It was such a cute moment for my daughter and I!  We made banana bread together.  I opened the brown bananas in front of her and she helped mash them up.  Then I let her stir the powder ingredients.  It was so so cute! A week later, she's still talking about making "nanas"!  She decided to "help" me unload the dishwasher.  She says, "Helping! Helping!" when she wants to help.  :)  She found a measuring cup and the same measuring spoon as … [Read more...]

7QT: Things I Like… Things I’ve Always Liked

[Happy Birthday, Mom!] - 1 - Days Off (ie Weekends) Happy Friday - I've always liked days where I didn't have to go to school / work / the babysitters' house.  Looking back, all I've ever wanted to do was stay home.  Or go on vacation - that is a lso a wesome.  For some reason though, it never occurred to me that I would want to be a Stay at Home Mom.  It took actually having a little one to realize that. You know it's spring when you can go on a picnic!  That is SO exciting for me!  I so look forward to this season every year.  To go on a picnic with my little family was something that I have been dreaming about for a while.  I hope to have many more picnics like this one. It was very windy, but still really good.  And somehow, I think we got a good window to go where the wind wasn't quite as bad as it was at other times of the day. When I found out it was going to be higher than 60 … [Read more...]
