7QT: Science Fiction & Artsy Stuff

– 1 –

Tootsie Roll had his 1 year doctor appointment last week.  He’s still doing well, but his weight is starting to taper off.  Our doctor says that’s typical as they start to get more and more mobile.  He’s happy and developing on track.  She asked me if he says any words yet, but he does not.  I guess I won’t start to get concerned until he’s 18 months if he doesn’t have any words yet.

One morning last week, I was nursing him early in the morning, and when he was done he saw his daddy.  He got a huge smile on his face as he sat up to look at Hobbs, and then he said what sounded like, “Hey!”  It was adorable.

Writers of the Future Vol 31

Screen Shot 2015-05-04 at 8.09.38 AM

Sometimes, my life as a blogger is quite exciting.  I was sent an Advance Reader Copy of this wonderful anthology for free, along with a copy of the actual book, in exchange for an honest review.  Science Fiction is my favorite genre so I was stoked to read these short stories written by these amazing new authors (and feast my eyes upon some illustrations of new artists!).  I happily did so in this post: Writers of the Future Vol 31 {a Book Review}

Art Challenge

I’ve been doing this:

art challenge

which is fun times.  I am so very rusty, but I’m doing this for the fun of it and the practice.  I’m also hoping it’ll get me into the habit of drawing.  If you want to see my drawings, I’ve been posting them to Instagram, as well as my Tumblr (where I put all my artsy stuff: I call it Cupcakes Underground.  Winkface).

Sometimes, Cupcakes draws with me.  Today, she did a MASTERPIECE!

Watching / Playing / Reading

What we’ve been up to…

Mad Men * Gilmore Girls * Daredevil * 3rd Rock from the Sun
on Netflix

Caleb and I had a *great* time watching an episode of 3rd Rock at 2am last night while he gnawed on celery.  I don’t even remember anything that happened in the show.

Currently Reading: Writers of the Future Volume 31

Bachelorette Party

When you’re a Maid of Honor, they are all-consuming.  Planning a party with strangers is tricky and a little stressful.  Hopefully these months of preparations will culminate in an awesome party for my only sister.  I will obviously tell you all about it.

I will say this: there. is. pink. glitter. everywhere.
…Somewhere between 2-5 specs on both kids at all times…
