7QT: What I’m Watching, Doing and Making

Here’s What’s Up

I want these Quick Takes to be better…  Dwij at House Unseen and Jenna at Call Her Happy are making changes to theirs and I noticed that mine could use some sprucing.  I guess I want to talk more about what’s going on in my life.

Screen Time

As much as I try to limit screen time (mostly for my littles), it still seems to be a big part of my life.  So here’s what we’re watching and doing.  Don’t judge.  😉

On Netflix

Cupcakes’ TV watching is very very limited, but her favorite show in the world is My Little Pony.  We love watching (for maybe the fifth time now) the show, Friendship is Magic as well as the movies, Equestria Girls and Rainbow Rocks.  MLP is getting cut from Netflix in February so we have to get it in before that happens.  Maybe we’ll have a couple of movie nights.

As for Hobbs and I, we’re re-watching Psych.  Have you seen this show?  Absolutely HILARIOUS.  I love it!  Since the final season just came out on Netflix, we watched that, but then we obviously had to start it over from the beginning.

I have “me time” 1-2 times per day, depending on Hobbs’ work schedule.  During that time, I do all my blog work.  BUT while I’m doing that, I like to have something playing on TV for background noise.  It totally helps my productivity.  Or destroys it.  One of those…  Anyway, when the TV is on for “me time”, it’s Gilmore Girls.  I never saw how it ended because I wasn’t a fan of who Rorie started to become at the end there… man it’s dramatic!

What are you watching??

And Then There’s Minecraft

Sigh.  Such a good game.  I’ve been playing video games my whole life, and Hobbs and I have been playing this game for a couple of years now.  But Cupcakes is at an age where she can play too!  She loves it, and she’s doing a great job.  As a mom, I like this game because it allows her to be very creative and to build things.  I am going to start limiting her time on it because I’m finding that the more she’s able to do, the more she wants to play (I can relate).

Here’s my moo-shroom.  It’s favorite:

Yep.  That’s a red cow with white spots and mushrooms growing out of his back.  He’s simply amazing.

Dessert of the Week

I tried this Starbucks Copy Cat recipe: Cranberry Bliss Bars!
They turned out really great (albeit very filling).

Hubpages: Penguin Craft

I don’t know where you live, but if it’s anything like Chicago, you’re probably cooped up inside like we are.  So we’ve turned to crafts to keep busy and productive.  What’s a better January / February animal than a penguin?!  There isn’t one.  Try this easy footprint craft with your kids; you could even make a family of them!  🙂
