Check out my Organization!

One of my New Years resolutions is to get my home organized and I have been hitting it hard.  I am really excited to show you my progress!  And I’ll credit some of my inspiration.  Read on; I think you’re going to like this one.  :)

For our one year wedding anniversary, Hobbs handmade me 1000 paper cranes that are all brightly colored.  Well we used to have those cranes hanging up in our old apartment.  But then we moved in with my rents and they went into the basement.  When we moved out on our own again they came with us, but sat on our closet floor.  It’s been close to a year now.  Ridiculous I know.  But my amazing husband hung them up today when I asked him!  They look great!

1000 paper cranes

Yeah he made every single one of those little guys.  He must love me!

Obviously, having all those birds off my closet floor has opened up some space.  I have started organizing by getting some shelves in there, but it’s not done yet so I’ll show you later.

Organizing the Kids Room

It’s essential to keep diapers in an organized fashion.  I used to have a great diaper storage unit but it broke. It kind of took up room we didn’t have anyway.  Here’s what we have now:

This is actually an art table from Michaels (I think it was around $10).  We started having her use it as an art table but then she always climbed on it and but her feet in the holders, which I didn’t think was safe.  So I put it on the shelf in her closet and it works very nicely as a diaper caddy.  As you can see, her diapers are in, on, and under it.  Then we have wipes and lotion underneath as well.  Diaper rash cream is in one of the holders.

You may also notice that I have all her bibs hanging up and her build-a-bear clothes in the little cardboard closet next to her diapers.  :)  #organized!

Childs Kitchen

She got this kitchen from her birthday and it’s a big part of her life now.  Haha.  :)  So we had to organize it!  Appliances go on the counter, just like in Mommy and Daddy’s kitchen.  Unlike Mommy and Daddy’s kitchen, she has a storage unit ($10 at Target) that holds in Drawer #1 Dishes, in Drawer #2 Food, and in Drawer #2 Baby clothes and accessories.  She also has a shipping cart that parks under the counter with her purse inside (a gift from her great aunt that has her initial on it.  :)

And um… I should get rid of that box.  We probably don’t need it.

Family Command Center

Family Command Center

This little gem is from Thirty One’s new spring catalogue and so far I love it!

Here’s how we’re using it:

Two pouches at the top: Mail to Sort and Bills to Pay
A pen and a dry erase marker
A dry erase pocket to write notes to Hobbs with church envelopes inside
(great for on-the-go since another NY resolution is to get to Mass on time!)
2 big pockets which have cereal box fronts that have free movie codes, our checkbook, etc
A binder clip with a build-a-bear coupon.
(Weird that build-a-bear got brought up twice in this post… they’re not paying me or anything!!)
Calendar next to it to write down anything both Hobbs and I need to know

I am really excited about the Family Command Center. I really wanted one, but we don’t have very much space.  We can’t have a whole desk set up like some of the great examples on pinterest mainly because we don’t have an entry way and live in a small apartment.  So a wall hanging C.C. is a good way to go.  :)  By the way, it’s right outside our kitchen.

I’ve been reading the Blog Maven’s 31 Days to an Organized Home.  I stumbled upon it browsing pinterest and it has been a major source of inspiration!  Her house is so beautifully organized!  She is very sweet and helpful too so I hope you visit her blog.  :)

What do you think?
Can you give me any more organizing tips??
How about your new years resolutions?

Also, I’d love to hear about your Family Command Center (if you have one)!
